Congratulations Dr Ali Mirjalili, Associate Professor Nikki Moreland and Dr Thomas Hill.

Dr Ali Mirjalili (PI), Department of Anatomy and Medical Imaging and his co-investigators Associate Professor Nikki Moreland, Department of Molecular Medicine and Pathology, and Dr Thomas Hill from ADHB have received $100,000 from the Ministry of Health to ensure the COVID-19 Immunisation Programme is delivered equitably. Their study named “Hitting the Spot – the effect of arm size on a COVID-19 Immunisation Programme” seeks to improve the ability of vaccinators to choose the optimal needle for people of different sizes receiving intramuscular vaccinations. They aim to recruit 350-400 participants who have just received their first dose of the Pfizer vaccine as part of the COVID-19 Immunisation Programme. They will perform a targeted ultrasound to check for evidence of successful intramuscular injection and measure antibody responses from finger-prick blood samples during the follow-up period.
