Dear Colleagues,
I have returned from Research and Study Leave refreshed and ready to serve another term as your Head of School.
I would like to take this opportunity to publically thank Professor Alistair Gunn for so ably stepping in for me as Acting Head of School during my period of leave. Al has done a great job and I think he may have even enjoyed himself.
I would also like to acknowledge Associate Professor Nuala Helsby who is stepping down from her role as the School’s Post Graduate Director. Nuala has done an excellent job in introducing the PGDip and Masters qualifications in Biomedical Sciences – the first degree programs actually governed by the School. In addition she has brought a more School wide focus to the processes involved in the managing post graduate that we can now build upon.
Among my first tasks back as Head of School will be to respond to the areas of action raised by the recent review of the School. To this end we will be holding a forum on the 30th of November to discuss some of these action areas in order to receive feedback from the wide School. This event will also give us a chance to celebrate the end of the exam period, our recent awards and grant successes and the submission of our PBRF portfolios.
Regards
Paul
