Professor Julian Paton, Department of Physiology, featured in a TVNZ 1 national evening news story on the University of Auckland’s pioneering work in developing next-generation pacemakers.
The piece highlighted collaborative research led by Professor Paton alongside Garth Barfoot, Professor David Budgett, and Dr Gerry Devlin. The project is focused on advancing pacemaker technology to better mimic the body’s natural rhythms and improve outcomes for patients with cardiovascular disease.
As Director of the University of Auckland Heart Research Centre and the national Centre of Research Excellence, Pūtahi Manawa, Professor Paton spoke about the importance of innovation in cardiovascular care and how the research team is striving to transform the future of heart health.
