Congratulations Natalie!

Dr Natalie Netzler, Department of Molecular Medicine and Pathology, and Dr Victoria Woolner, Victoria University of Wellington, received an HRC project grant(48 months, $1,166,908). The project title is, ‘Harnessing the antiviral activities of Samoan traditional medicines’.

Traditional medicines can be more accessible and accepted in remote Pacific areas. Few studies examine the antiviral activities of traditional Pacific medicines against contemporary viral threats to our communities, such as SARS-CoV-2, influenza, and RSV. Using co-design with Pacific healers, we will examine traditional Samoan medicines for antiviral activities against respiratory viruses.
