It is my pleasure to announce that Dr David Musson has been appointed Director of Student Affairs. David is a Senior Lecturer in Nutrition and Dietetics and is located in 504-239.
The main purpose of this role is to “Ensure representation of student interests and welfare within the School of Medical Sciences” by acting as a touch point for all of us interacting with students. This is a completely new role within the School, so I would encourage you to interact with and support David to ensure that we can make this fit-for-purpose.
Some key things you may wish to discuss with David about are:
- Ensuring students are being directed to appropriate channels for support based on their needs.
- Ensuring that course teaching staff are aware of University services for learning support, pastoral care and wellbeing and offer support and/or refer students as appropriate.
- Support course directors to address student concerns, grievances or complaints, where possible, at the local level.
- Contribute to the ongoing development of teaching and learning activities within the programme.
- Consult on matters relating to academic misconduct, student misconduct and fitness to practice.
