Sryana Sukhdev from the Department of Physiology has been awarded the Helen Goodwin Doctoral Scholarship from the Auckland Medical Research Foundation. She is one of the emerging, up-and-coming researchers who is providing hope for those who have had a stroke. ‘Sryana’s newsworthy research was recently featured by Sacha McNeil on Seven Sharp, where you can see here how this 22 year-old recipient of the AMRF Helen Goodwin Scholarship is undertaking the first of its kind research into faster treatment for stroke.’
Her research project is titled, ‘Therapeutic potential of sodium nitrite treatment to help save the brain during ischemic stroke’. This work is in collaboration with Dr Fiona McBryde and Dr Mickey Fan.
