It gives me great pleasure to announce that Professor Bob Anderson has been awarded an Australian Institute of Nuclear Science and Engineering (AINSE) Honorary Fellowship. This prestigious award recognises Bob’s distinguished and dedicated services to the Institute.
AINSE is an integral organisation for enhancing Australia’s and New Zealand’s capabilities in nuclear science, engineering and related research fields by facilitating world class research and education.
Professor Anderson’s first involvement with AINSE was fifty years ago when he presented a research paper as a student at the AINSE conference at Lucas Heights in 1970. In 1995, Professor Anderson established a regional Pulse Radiolysis Facility at Auckland University and this continues to be an AINSE External Facility. It is the only such facility in the southern hemisphere.
Professor Anderson has acted as Facility Contact Officer for the Pulse Radiolysis Facility since 1995, and in this role he has collaborated with research groups at AINSE-affiliated Australian and New Zealand Universities on AINSE awards. He has actively participated in joint supervision of AINSE supported PhD students undertaking pulse radiolysis studies.
Professor Anderson has made a tremendous scientific contribution to the field of radical chemistry over five decades with ca. 150 publications. He has provided dedicated and sustained service to AINSE over a period of 25 years and is a truly deserving recipient of the Honorary Fellowship.
