Associate Professor Siouxsie Wiles, Department of Molecular Medicine and Pathology, won a $50,000 prize for serving as a critic and conscience of society through her expert and independent Covid-19 commentaries.

The Universities New Zealand award, sponsored by the Gama Foundation, is intended to encourage academics and universities to engage in public debate on important issues. Each recipient receives a framed certificate and $50,000 to aid their work.
