The Physiological Society of New Zealand (PSNZ) held its annual national meeting this week and I am delighted to inform you that students and staff of the Department of Physiology were awarded all but one of the research prizes offered by the society. Congratulations to our winners and congratulations to all who took part. The talks were of an amazing calibre, demonstrating the strength and diversity of research undertaken by the department.
The winners are:
The PSNZ Triennial Medal: Professor Alistair Jan Gunn. The Triennial Medal is made every three years in recognition of distinguished physiological research published by a member of the Society in the previous five years.
PSNZ Research Excellence Prize: Dr Rohit Ramchandra. This prize is awarded every two years in recognition of sustained outstanding research by a sub-professorial member of the society.
PSNZ New and emerging Research Excellence Prize: Dr Annika Winbo. This prize is awarded for best oral presentation highlighting outstanding research by a post-doctoral fellow, research fellow, assistant research fellow, or early career academic staff member.
John Hubbard Memorial Prize: Dr Yukti Vyas. This prize is awarded in recognition of excellence in studies towards a PhD
3-minute Infoblitz prize: Marco Annandale. This new prize is awarded for best short oral presentation by a Masters or early stage PhD student
