The Biomedical Science Honours Symposium was held on the 29 October 2019. Janet Reid, Christine Lee and Tessa Hunt were the prize winners at the symposium. The Symposium was a presentation of research performed during the year by students from the graduating class of the Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Honours) (BBiomedSc Hon) programme. It is intended to acknowledge the efforts and success of students in this research-led programme
Janet Reid, Department of Molecular Medicine and Pathology, was awarded the 1st prize. Her presentation title, ‘The role of Neutrophils and Macrophages in Lymphatic Regeneration’. She is supervised by Dr Jonathan Astin.
Christine Lee, Department of Obstetrics and Gynaecology, was awarded the 2nd prize. Her presentation title, ‘Bio-distribution of Extracellular Vesicles from term Normotensive Placentae‘. She is supervised by Professor Larry Chamley
Tess Hunt, Auckland Cancer Society Research Centre, was awarded the 3rd prize. Her presentation title, ‘The Development of Methods for Investigating the Tissue Diffusion Properties of Therapeutic Antibodies in Oncology‘. She is supervised by Dr Frederik Pruijn and Dr Moana Tercel.
