Rajshri Roy, Teri Winona Styles and Andrea Braakhuis published a paper entitled ‘Do health programmes within the New Zealand food industry influence the work environment for employees?’
This study highlights that significantly more workplace wellness initiatives related to improving nutrition are offered within the Food and Grocery Council Companies. Larger companies have more workplace wellness initiatives than smaller companies.
Focus group discussions show that wellness programs that focus on helping employees have good health behaviours eventually have an impact on productivity. This study outlines the enablers of and barriers to work site wellness activities that engages employees and supports them in improving their health.
