Katie Jones, Research Programme Manager, will be taking parental leave from 7 June. We are fortunate to have Kyla Archer an experienced Senior Research Programme Coordinator from the Faculty of Science, join SMS to cover the RPM role through to March 2020. Kyla will join the team on 27 May for a hand over period prior to Katie taking leave.
Kyla has been working as a Senior Research Programme Coordinator in the School of Biological Sciences (Faculty of Science) since the IRiS go-live date of 4 April 2018. She has worked with across the whole school, providing both pre- and post-award support to researchers across a wide range of public and private funds. She has experience across all three major funding bodies – HRC, MBIE and Royal Society. Prior to her role in Science, she worked in the Research Office as a Funds Advisor, managing the Science & Innovation portfolio, where her main responsibility was the MBIE Endeavour round.
Kyla is originally from the UK, and her first job after graduation was at the Biotechnology and Biological Sciences Research Council (BBSRC) as an Assistant Peer Review Officer, preparing research proposals for assessment committees. She has worked on both sides of research management, providing support to world-class academics, allowing them to create excellent research, something that she is very passionate about. She has also worked in project management roles for the Environment Agency and a software company prior to moving to New Zealand.
Outside of work she enjoys travelling and exploring this beautiful country, attending concerts, baking, and (counterproductive to her previously mentioned hobby) keeping fit. She is looking forward to working with you all!
