Cherie Blenkiron has been awarded the Royal Society of New Zealand’s Charles Fleming Senior Scientist award to support the development of a new photographic annotation app for recording information when collecting patient samples when tissue banking. The project will be driven by AMRF-funded PhD student Tamsin Robb and the app will be trialled in real time by the Auckland Regional Tissue Bank. A Maurice and Phyllis Paykel Trust grant also supports this project.
Cherie has had a good few weeks as she was also elected onto the Board of Directors for the International Society for Extracellular Vesicles (ISEV) as an Asia/Pacific representative. This complements her role as Associate Director for the soon to be launched SRIF funded Hub for Extracellular Vesicle Investigations (HEVI) and initiative to support research across the University.
